Until 2020, I worked with the Smart Meter Network Operations team to complete their transition from Deployment to full Sustainment.
Earlier this year I began to work with the Real Time Systems team on a project related to the Distribution Management System.
Tantalus Systems
April 2005 – June 2013
Tantalus is a Vancouver-based Smart Grid company designing and manufacturing wireless, two-way, real-time data communications networks for utilities. I came on board just after the TUNet utility network was launched, and helped transform the company to its current situation as a partner with global technology giant, Itron.
Over the eight years I was with Tantalus, I held wide responsibility in the area of corporate process. For Tantalus, this included the design and implementation of all major corporate processes for order entry, revenue recognition, return materials, issue tracking, engineering changes, requisition, and others.
For each workflow I collaborated with internal customers to identify their requirements, then designed and implemented an addition to the toolset that met those needs. The finished deliverable included a flow diagram for all audiences, a user guide for those who input the initial data, and a complete report set for management.
By implementing these specific requirements in Atlassian’s workflow management tool JIRA, over time I essentially built an ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) system. Since JIRA is open-source, I was able to design efficient, cost-effective integrations across the corporate toolset, focused on providing the executive with the data they needed to run the company.
I designed a Team Room portal (built on Liferay) that interacts with Tantalus’ internal tools to present live data to customers, who can open issues, track orders, generate RMA numbers for warranty coverage, request repairs, etc. without calling the support desk.
ADS Corporation
ADS Corporation developed ebill, an Internet-based point-of-sale periodic billing system for insurance policies, designed for international release.
I wrote, edited and maintained a management level overview of Credit, Marketing, Operations and Accounting that became a key part of the business case presented to investors and partners.
I also wrote SOPs for Credit, Operations, and Accounting.
